How many times have you had a thought about contacting someone, but didn't follow through?
I read a post this morning about someone who had a good friend that she had lost touch with and then had the chance to reconnect with, but then found out the friend had cancer. She thought about writing a card to say how much she appreciated her friendship, but just couldn't seem to get started...and then it was too late, her friend was gone.
How many times have you held on to something saying, "I'm keeping it for something special." You may have read a story about a husband finding a beautiful red slip in his wife's lingerie drawer that she was saving for "just the right time", but now she was gone.
Too often we let the moments pass, the moments that can change not only our life, but the life of the person we share with. Too often we let our busyness get in the way of reaching out and touching someone.
As I sit here typing this, I am reminded of my good neighbour down the road who is 96 and in failing health. Why am I not down there visiting her instead of sitting at my computer? Why not, indeed. I think I will call her up and see if she feels like a visit from me. I could certainly use a visit with her.
Stop and think for a moment....who do you need to reach out to right now?
Now, do it.

The Law of Attraction - What you give out you get back
A young boy and his father were walking in the mountains when suddenly the young boy slipped and fell. As he called out, he heard another voice calling back. In amazement, he looked at his father and asked, "What was that?"
His father smiled and said, watch and listen: He called out, "I admire you" the voice answered back, "I admire you.". Again he called, "You are a champion." and again the voice answered, "You are a champion."
As the boy looked at his father, still puzzled, the father explained; "People call this an echo, but really this is life. It gives you back everything you say and do. Our lives are a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want competency in your team, improve your own competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of your life. Life will give you back everything you have given to it."

Live Life Today
Do you believe that you have to wait until things calm down a bit before you get your act together?
Do you keep telling yourself that tomorrow you will get at that chore you’ve been putting off, that course you’ve been wanting to take, that phone call you’ve been going to make, take some time to look after yourself, go to the spa, take a hot bath, etc. etc.?
Well then, you are normal. Most of us are waiting until tomorrow, but the truth is, as Sarah Ban Breathnach says, “life never calms down long enough for us to wait until tomorrow to start living the lives we deserve. Life is always movement, always change, always unforeseen circumstances.”
So, what are our options? How do we begin working on this life of ours to make it more satisfying? Sarah says “We can accept, bless, give thanks, and get going. “ Wow, what a concept. Accept things as they are. Give thanks for our circumstances and then just get on with things.
As I read the thought for January 25th from Sarah Ban Brethnach’s Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy, I was struck by how many things I have let slide. How many times procrastination has crept in and how many opportunities this has cost me. How many times have you had a thought, “I should call so and so”, but then let it slide only to find out later that something happened to that person, they moved away, or they died and that opportunity will never come again. How many friendships have you let slide? How many times have you turned down the chance to do something just for yourself – taking a nice long bath for instance. I can hear you now - “Oh, I couldn’t do that, there is laundry to do, dishes to be done, the house to clean, etc., etc., etc.” Well, those things will always be there. It’s time to stop making excuses. You will NEVER FIND THE TIME to do anything. You need to MAKE THE TIME to do what it is you want to do.
Sarah encouraged me to “Call a friend for lunch, begin to read or even write that novel, organize your papers, try a new recipe for dinner, smile at everyone you meet, sit and dream before a blazing fire, pick up your needlepoint again, act as if you’re grateful to be alive, scatter joy.” Simple things to get us started on LIVING out life instead of letting it pass us by.
Now it is your turn. Think for a moment about one thing that you can do that will bring you genuine pleasure…and then do it.
Think about one thing that will move your business forward…and then do it.
Think about one thing that will improve your relationship (if you are in one)….and then do it.
Simple things, and easy to do…IF we just go ahead and do them.
What will you do today????

Life Lessons
Graham Hamer sent me a few life lessons that I want to share with you
Hi Fran,
Lesson: I don't care how good you are, you can't do everything well. Focus on what you're good at, and either hire people to do the rest or do without until you learn.
Lesson: When you know something that can help someone, tell them. It costs you nothing to share your knowledge, and you never know where it will lead.
Lesson: How you treat people will determine how people treat you. In short, your reputation precedes you. So what kind of reputation are you building?
Lesson: It's much easier to trust someone if they go out of their way to help you when there's nothing extra in it for them. Being helpful isn't just a "feel good" thing (although it does) - it makes good business sense.
Lesson: Know your stuff. Most experienced people turn down 90% or more of the deals that are offered to them. You need to know what you CAN do, what you WANT to do, and what you HAVE TIME to do.
Lesson: Before commiting to something, think about whether or not you can fulfill your obligations. It's critical to be dependable.
Lesson: To honest people a handshake is more important than a written contract. With honourable people, a contact is unnecessary. With dishonourable people, a contract is useless. So never agree to anything verbally that you wouldn't sign your name to.
Lesson: Friends are more important than deals. There are a million deals out there. Do you have a million friends?
Lesson: Don't BS people. Folks don't expect perfection or a walking encyclopedia Remember Harry Callahan's admonition: "A man's gotta know his limitations."
Lesson: Rushing things through to get the deal going is a major cause of failure. Rushing doesn't mean doing it fast. It means paying more attention to speed than to important details. It's possible to get both, if you are willing to do the work.
Lesson: Expect that customers will try and screw you. They may not always be aware that they're doing it, and they may lie to try and convince you that it wasn't their intention. It doesn't matter why they do it.... but they WILL do it!
Lesson: On the other hand, expect that people will tell you when someone is doing something they shouldn't. You'll be surprised at the number of people who will watch out for you if you have a reputation for honest dealings. (It's refreshing, believe me, so don't forget to thank them.)
Lesson: Be prepared for some things to work much better than you thought they would, and others to flop that you thought were "sure things." There are simply too many variables to predict everything right beforehand.
Lesson: Changes are an inescapable part of doing businesss. Being flexible is critical.
