What Is Holding You Back??

Learn to express rather than impress. Expressing evokes a "me too" attitude while impressing evokes a "so what" attitude. E. James Rohn

It's Not What You Are That Holds You Back...

A while back I spoke to a group in Houston and I showed them pictures of some very famous people.

They included Thomas Edison, Cher, Walt Disney, Richard Branson, Jay Leno, Whoopi Goldberg, Ted Turner and my hero Winston Churchill.

Then I asked the audience what they all had in common.

Can you guess?

There were quite a few answers from the audience and they were all wrong. It was only after I pulled out $100 and offered it as a prize that a person in the back overcame his fear of being wrong and volunteered the correct answer....

....they were all dyslexic!

I pointed out that the role that made each of them famous also required a lot of reading. Do you know how hard it is for a dyslexic person to read? But not a single one of those great people that I cited let dyslexia keep them from being all they were created to be.

That's why one of my most favorite quotes is, "It's not what you are that holds you back, it's what you think you're not."

I use that quote by Denis Waitley virtually every time I speak to an audience. Because it really speaks to the problem I think most people have in struggling for success --- they believe they're lacking something that, if they possessed it, would make them successful. When the truth is, they already possess everything they need to be successful, they just need to learn how to use it to their advantage.

The Law of Attraction - What you give out you get back

A young boy and his father were walking in the mountains when suddenly the young boy slipped and fell. As he called out, he heard another voice calling back. In amazement, he looked at his father and asked, "What was that?"

His father smiled and said, watch and listen: He called out, "I admire you" the voice answered back, "I admire you.". Again he called, "You are a champion." and again the voice answered, "You are a champion."

As the boy looked at his father, still puzzled, the father explained; "People call this an echo, but really this is life. It gives you back everything you say and do. Our lives are a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want competency in your team, improve your own competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of your life. Life will give you back everything you have given to it."

Our Beliefs About Ourselves

Our beliefs about ourselves

One of the greatest lessons in life I believe you can learn is the benefit of taking full and complete responsibility in your life for each and every part of your life, good, bad or indifferent.

Not from the point of view of assigning blaming, guilt or shame. Simply from the point of understanding, gaining insight and clarity of what you’ve done, why you’ve chosen to do it, what the payoff is. From there it allows us to be in a position to make better and more empowering choices next time to better support your life.

Our life is a reflection of our thoughts.

If you were to evaluate your life would you feel as though you are living into your greatest purpose or passion?

If the answer is no or you’re not sure here are some questions to ask yourself ;

1. Who am I?

2. What do I do?

3. Why do I do what I do?

4. What will my biggest legacy be?

5. What do I believe about myself to be true?

6. Does what I currently believe about myself support my ideal self?

7. What are the payoffs for the negative beliefs I have about myself?

8. Can I identify my negative beliefs about myself?

9. What am I willing to believe about myself that would best support my life?

10. What belief do I currently hold about myself that is getting in the way of what I am deserve?

11. What action steps can I take to accept and fully love myself for who I am now?

It’s only when we take the time to intentionally question who we are, what beliefs we hold about ourselves and how we’re showing up in life do we start the process of taking full and complete responsibility for ourselves and our lives.

Taking responsibility for our lives includes understanding why we’ve made the choices we’ve made, understanding that our limiting beliefs drive most of our behaviours.

We attract to our life what we’re putting out in terms of our energies and also our beliefs about ourselves and about other people, situations and circumstances.

So with that knowledge in hand it allows us to make some better and more empowering choices and decisions.

Once you identify what your negative beliefs are then you are in a position to change those beliefs to more positive ones that can be done through writing positive affirmations. Turning the negative belief or statement about yourself into a more positive one.

As you continue to practice believing more positive things about yourself they eventually become a habit. They become a part of your natural make up and your daily practice to fully know that you are an amazing person complete and whole in your essence of simply being.

With kindest of intentions

Getting Real!!

Today's focus in the 8 step personal development series is Getting Real!

You do not have to be anybody other than your authentic self. This does not mean wearing your favorite worn out jeans or yoga pants to the next corporate meeting. What this does mean ...

March to the beat of your own drum whenever you can!

You are unique.

You are a miracle.

You are a graceful creator.

You matter.

Your true path may never be revealed if you spend your life behaving like you "should".

"Well behaved women rarely make history." - Louisa May Alcott

Why on Earth would you spend your life doing things over and over that you have no interest in, or continue in a career or relationship that is no longer fulfilling? If your answer is security, think again...

It's never too soon, nor too late to discover your passion and live your life on your own terms.

Years ago my mentor coach asked me to work on a creative project to identify what kind of a professional coach I wanted to be.

The mission... Create a simple picture of ME in my element, surrounded by all of the props and things that light me up as woman. A brand new box of crayons and a short time later, "Super Shann" was created.

You might begin with a comparison and contrast of the person you are at work and the person you are at home with friends and family. Which person is more authentic?

There is no need to be an experienced artist. Just get started and have fun with the process.
Check out my rendition of "Super Shann" a fun picture illustrating this creative idea.

Groovy Action Plan

What do you enjoy the most about your career / business / job?

What are you truly passionate about?

Can you surround yourself with more inspiration?

Draw a fun and vibrant picture of your authentic self, who you are under all of the layers of who you "should" be.

Feeling brave and silly? Email me your picture and I'll post it on the True Balance Life Coaching blog.

Next up ... What Makes You Tick?

Abundance, Wealth, Prosperity, Financial Freedom

Focus on Abundance
by Sandy Forster
Australia's Leading Prosperity Mentor

Abundance,Wealth, Prosperity, Financial Freedom – we all crave it, not just for what the money will do, but for the choices it will give us, for the fun we can create with it, for the life we can live with it. Why is it that some people seem to attract money and riches so easily, and others live their entire lives struggling to make ends meet?

Why does it often seem that the rich just get richer and the poor just get poorer? Well guess what – it’s not about how MUCH money you make, but how you THINK about money and what you DO with that money that will make all the difference between whether you will live a life of Prosperity or one of continual money challenges. But no matter what your situation – it CAN be changed. If you desire MORE Abundance in your life – then read on!

Living the life of your dreams instead of just dreaming about it is all about creating a Millionaire Mindset.

And that’s my specialty! I have been a Prosperity Mentor for over 4
years with clients from all over the world. I love to share different
strategies, skills, exercises and ideas on how to keep your mind
focused on raising the levels of Wealth in your life. Because the more
you focus on something, the FASTER you will attract it into your life.

Take a moment to think about where your focus or predominant mental attitude is. And if it’s more on your bills, debts and lack of money, then you MUST begin to focus on wealth, riches and prosperity – or you will never be able to attract it into your life. A surprisingly simple but amazingly powerful exercise to attract prosperity to you takes less than a minute a day, and if you do this daily, you’ll be amazed at what you begin to attract into your life. This exercise is called Abundance Breaths and basically all you need to do is breathe. Well, actually, it’s a little more than that…

As already stated, you become what you focus on. Too often, it can be challenging to know exactly what you do want. You get caught up in trying to make up your mind - “Do I want this or that? What if I get that and I really would have preferred this?” “I thought I wanted this, but now I think I want that”.

Sometimes it’s easier if you can just focus on the feeling of abundance, rather than the specifics of what that abundance will be. It is the feeling that has the attraction power anyway. You can get specific when all the money comes in!

What you should do before this exercise to ecreate avalanches of abundance and prosperity is find a comfy chair and ssit down with your feet flat on the floor, back straight and hands resting in your lap with palms facing up. Gently close your eyes and keep them closed. Before you get started just imagine that you are now surrounded by tiny, minute particles of abundance; that you are immersed in a sea of prosperity and you can reach out and touch it and bring it into your life whenever you desire (which you can!).

When you’re ready, take a long, slow, deep Abundance Breath in to the count of three, totally expanding and filling your lungs. Imagine all the while that you are breathing in those particles of prosperity and they are filling every fibre of your being. Feel that feeling of being flooded with abundance. Hold your breath for the count of nine and feel every atom, every cell in your entire body being plumped up with prosperity, filled with abundance, vibrating with riches. And then slowly, to the count of six, breathe out that Abundance to circulate throughout the Universe – really force all that air out.

Once again, take another long, slow, deep Abundance Breath in, and this time, see your body light up from the inside out, glowing with prosperity, sparkling with riches, dazzling with wealth. I like to imagine that my body is glowing from the inside out with that same golden glow that radiates from Scrooge McDuck’s millions, or the gold in Aladdin’s cave! Once again, hold for the count of nine, seeing that
glow, feeling that glow, then on the out breath, once again breathe out
the abundance to circulate throughout the Universe.

One last time, slowly breathe in a huge big Abundance Breath for the count of three, and while you hold that breath for the count of nine, imagine and feel what it’s like to be totally abundant, amazingly wealthy, to have achieved financial freedom and be rich beyond your wildest dreams. Feel how that feels; feel how light and free and good that feels. Expand that feeling; feel it flood through your body. Embrace that amazing feeling throughout your body, mind and spirit. And for the last time, slowly breathe that abundance and prosperity out to circulate throughout the Universe.

And when you’re ready, slowly open your eyes, feeling prosperous, feeling wealthy, feeling rich, rich, rich! As I said, this is a very easy, very powerful little trick you can do daily or many times, if you want to attract MORE into your life. It only takes a couple of minutes, but has amazing money-magnetizing powers. Once you get really good at your Abundance Breaths, you won’t even need to close your eyes – you will be able to feel those feelings, see your body glowing with prosperity and really feel you are beginning to attract money anytime, anywhere – what fun! Remember, the idea is to focus on what you DO want – and that’s a life filled with prosperity, abundance, riches, wealth and happiness!
