Soothe Your Spirit

Take a time out.

In minutes you can reap the benefits of calming your mind. Research has shown that meditation helps reduce anxiety, high blood pressure, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress syndrome, among other things.

For some, meditation means starting out the day sitting cross legged and listening to inner thoughts.

For others, it means tuning out the clatter in the grocery store, or the kids playing in the next room, and practicing rhythmic breathing.

No matter where you are, you can take at least one or two really deep breaths and think happy thoughts.

It only takes a few seconds to start that breath deep in your belly and bring it up to your chest. Hold it there for a few seconds and think about how good it feels, then let it out and take in another one or two. You will be amazed at how good even this simple step feels.

Happy breathing!!
